About Virtual Labs

An initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India, under the National Mission on Education through ICT.

Virtual Labs provide remote-access to Labs in various disciplines of Science and Engineering. This hackathon aims to expand this repository with student-driven, next-gen simulations.

  • Team Size

    1 - 4 Members per team.

  • Eligibility

    Engineering & Science Students (UG / PG / Diploma).

  • Submission Requirement

    Submission must be a working MVP (Minimum Viable Product) or Prototype.

Classroom Thermal Simulation & HVAC Control

Develop a time-based thermal simulation of a classroom and design a control strategy that maintains thermal comfort while minimizing HVAC energy consumption.

The Algorithmic "Glass Box" Simulator

Design an interactive platform that visualizes and narrates every internal step of pathfinding algorithms (BFS, DFS, A*) to enable deep conceptual understanding.

Microgrid Simulator + Daily Energy Scheduler

Design a time-based simulation of a microgrid and develop a detailed daily energy scheduling strategy that minimizes energy usage and operational cost.

Interactive Structural Response Simulator

Build a simulator for a multi-storey frame under seismic input. Visualize mode shapes and time-history displacement under earthquake acceleration.

Theme 5

Crop Water Stress Simulation

Create a field-scale simulator that models soil moisture dynamics and recommends irrigation timings to save water while maintaining crop stress limits.

Simulated Comfort & Wear Prediction

Create a simulation pipeline that takes a parametric sole geometry and predicts pressure distribution & comfort index under static standing and walking gait.
